Droid X vs Incredible

In this Droid X vs Incredible review, I am not going to talk about the similarities between the 2 smartphones. Instead, I’m going to focus on all the main differences between them, so that you know exactly which one you should be getting. It’s not like there’s an obvious answer to that question, as we’re dealing with 2 very fine pieces of technology here. But one of them will definitely come on top at the end of this review, depending mostly on your tastes and preferences.

1. Size & Display

This is by far the biggest difference between the 2 phones, as Droid X is much larger than its challenger (4.3″ compared to 3.7″ for Incredible). The picture below should give you a precise idea of what you’re looking at in terms of how big the difference is.

Droid X vs Incredible

Droid X uses WVGA resolution TFT display whereas Incredible comes with a WVGA resolution AMOLED display. As a result, colors on the Incredible are warmer although a bit over-saturated, contrast levels are higher in quality, but the screen on Droid X is brighter and easier to read in direct sunlight.

Whether having a large phone should be perceived as an issue definitely comes down to personal preferences… The difference in size is significant between the 2 phones, but be aware that Droid X still fits in your pocket nicely. If you use your phone a lot for various tasks like sending emails and watch videos, then Droid X’s large screen will be very benefitial to you.

2. CPU Performance

In the battle Droid X vs Incredible, it is important to find out which one of these phones is faster than the other. This is obviously another major technical point to look at.

HTC Droid Incredible uses a 1GHz Snapdragon CPU while Motorola Droid X comes with a 1 GHz OMAP 3630 CPU and a dedicated SFX530 GPU. For those of you who are not familiar with what these technical terms means, powerful tests have been run on both phones in terms of speed, 2D/3D graphics and memory. The results put Droid X in front of Incredible, more fluid in its use and overall faster.

3. Internal Memory For Storage

Lots of people use their phone to store files, mostly music, pictures and videos. If you’re used to recording a lot of videos with the internal camera, then it’s important that you get a maximum amount of space on the phone.

Both Droid X and Incredible come with 8GB internal memory dedicated to the storage of applications, settings and contacts. However, Droid X also offers up to 32 additional GB of removable Micro SD storage for a total of 40GB, whereas the Incredible only supports 16GB of additional storage to total 24GB. That’s quite a noticeable difference.

4. Camera

The camera on Droid Incredible is 8 megapixels, which is exactly the same as Droid X. However, colors seem to be brighter on Droid X according to what most users have been reporting. The best way to give you an idea on the difference between the 2 phones when it comes to the camera is to show you 2 similar pictures, 1 taken with Droid X and 1 taken with Droid Incredible.

5. Battery Life

Battery Life is one of the main concerns users have when buying a phone, it sure is one of mine. If you compare Droid X vs Incredible based on batteries, important differences can be seen.

HTC Droid Incredible allows for a “Talk Time” of around 5.2 hours and a “Standby Time” of about 149 hours when fully charged. On the other hand, a fully charged Droid X can offer up to 8 hours of talking time and last around 220 hours in standby mode.

Once gain, that a very noticeable difference…

Conclusion

On the technical side of things, there is no doubt that Droid X is more advanced than its challenger Droid Incredible. When it comes to design & feel, it really depends on your personal preferences. Droid X looks kind of “old-fashioned” to me, but it’s important to realize that its larger size also makes it more powerful. All in all, you won’t go wrong if you buy either one of these phones, as they are both very good and well rated by the users. However, for the best results in terms of performance, the battle Droid X vs Incredible is clearly won by the very powerful Droid X.

Free Droid X

If you live in the US and are looking for a FREE Droid X then click here to benefit from an exclusive offer for a limited time. A lot of people are very interested in the Motorola Droid X, but very few know that they can actually get one for free. All the world’s largest companies spend millions of dollars every single year for marketing and research, to make sure that consumers are happy with their products and also to find ways to improve the overall quality of what they’re selling.

With that in mind, it makes sense that giving away free droid x phones to a limited number of people in exchange for their opinion on the product is a very interesting and not too costly way to get valuable information on how real customers perceive the quality of their products. And if these customers like the phone, there is also a big chance that they’ll buy the newer versions in the years to come. Now you understand why these companies offer some of their products for free to US citizens.

So why should-you get a Droid X anyway? Well, the Motorola Droid X is a very powerful smartphone with a lot of features and applications. The screen is larger than your average smartphone, but it makes the whole web browsing and video watching experiences even better. A 1Ghz processor and 512 Mb of RAM ensure that you can switch between applications very fast with no delay, and a 8Go internal memory expandable to 40Go allows the user to store all kinds of files, including full length movies.

The phone also benefits from a GPS receiver and now works on the new Android platform 2.2 (Froyo). All in all, it is without a doubt one of the best smartphones on the market to this day. Although most people get attracted by the huge marketing power of Apple and its iPhone 4, the majority of Android users would never consider trading their Droid for an iPhone. If you want to make your own opinion on Android and share it with the manufacturer, the best way is to get a FREE Droid X today by clicking here.

Droid X vs Droid 2

In the battle Droid X vs Droid 2, it’s pretty hard to find a real winner, as both smartphones are very good. Droid X came out in July 2010, just 1 month before Droid 2. Now let’s have a look at the major technical specifications of each phone:

There’s no need to compare both phones for hours to realize that Droid X is actually better than its competitor on a technical point of view: longer battery life, wider screen and a better camera. If you don’t mind having a smartphone slightly larger than average, then it is clear that Droid X is the one you’re looking for. It’s almost impossible to rate the design of each phone, as it all comes down to personal preferences. To give you an idea of what to expect, here are the Droid X and Droid 2 side by side:

The next big difference between the 2 phones is that the Droid 2 integrates a full QWERTY keyboard you can slide in or out from underneath. This could prove useful to users who are texting heavily, although I personally find that typing on screen is just as convenient as having a real keyboard. Then again, it’s all about personal preferences. Here is a picture of the Droid 2 with it integrated keyboard to give you an idea of what it looks like:

When it comes to the whole Android interface including access to applications, media functionnalities, storage and messaging, both phones are very similar. Droid X was working on Android 2.1 when it came out, but has since been updated to Android 2.2 (also called Froyo) just like Droid 2. With the exact same operating system installed on both phones, you can expect the same user experience and interface on Droid X and Droid 2.

Basically, there are 2 types of users:

  • People who enjoy using their smartphone to the limit of their potential by watching a lot of videos and browsing the web. If that sounds like you, then I believe Droid X is the right choice with its wider screen. The battery also lasts longer on Droid X, which is a huge advantage for heavy users who like to use smartphones for their multimedia functionnalities.
  • People who use their smartphone mostly for the basic functionnalities: calling and texting people! In that case, the smaller Droid 2 with its integrated keyboard looks like a perfect choice.

Conclusion

In the battle Droid X vs Droid 2, even though Droid X is slightly better than Droid 2 on the technical side of things, both phones are so similar that you won’t go wrong choosing one over the other. All you need to keep in mind is that the 2 main differences between both phones are the size and the keyboard. So you are the only person who can decide which phone is best for you. Does size matter? Do you need the keyboard? If you answer “no” to those questions then go for Droid X, otherwise choose Droid 2.

Droid Incredible Review

This Droid Incredible Review will give you a look inside what HTC’s Incredible smartphone offers, and how it compares with competition. But before going further, please note that all US residents can have a shot at a FREE Motorola Droid Incredible for a limited time by clicking here. Nothing to lose… Have a good read!

Responsiveness and fluidity of the interface

What’s really striking about this mobile the first time you use it is the performance of the operating system. The phone is very fluid and you can switch from one application to another without slowing down. On top of that, the new HTC Sense graphics overlay makes the whole the experience of Android 2.2 a lot better, without impacting at all on the performance and speed.

HTC Droid Incredible

The phone is capable of handling this overlay with a Snapdragon 1 GHz processor from Qualcomm. The screen offers a very beautiful color rendition for both videos and pictures. HTC has opted for a size of 4 inches and a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels. We can comfortably read a digital book, surf the web without too much scrolling or use the zoom function … On the technology side, HTC has used the Super LCD and not the AMOLED. Thus, The brightness is excellent, which allows you to read the screen even in direct sunlight.

HTC Sense: a customizable and practical system

HTC’s graphics overlay is especially useful to customize your phone for your own needs. You use your phone a lot for music and videos? All you need to do is choose a multimedia theme so that your 5 home pages become shortcuts to your favorite music, personal photos or your favorite pages on the Internet. You’re more into texting, Twitter and Facebook? The social theme locates automatically these functions and sets them up on your home page.

We can even combine all the functions and move regularly from one theme to another. For example, if you use your phone for both work and personal, you can split your contact names and details in 2 different themes. The same can be done for applications, games, videos, everything…

Droid Incredible HTC

In the same topic, you can create your own shortcuts to anything you want: to an application, to a phone function, to a widget, to a folder… This customization to the extreme gives you a phone that suits you, and it’s very pleasant.

HTC Sense has two specific applications: HTC Hub is a boutique to enhance the customization options of the phone, and HTC Likes is a program offering a selection of practical applications for your phone, just to get lost in the Android Market and its thousands of applications.

Camera and Internet browsing

The Incredible is also distinguished by its high quality camera. The sensor has a very good autofocus, which greatly limits the blur caused by movement of the subject, a feature that most other camera smartphones do not usually have. The color balance is quite wrong, however, and depends on your exposure and ambient light. The sensor is very sensitive to light, and tends to overexpose dark scenes. But overall, the images obtained are not too damaged by the different light sources. The overall quality of pictures is good, but without reaching the level of mid-range digital camera.

HTC Droid Incredible Camera

We also appreciate the function of automatic face detection. The camera places the autofocus on the person you want to photograph, and you can then move the frame. One can also focus manually by pressing a displayed item on screen. The presence of a two LEDs flash (three levels of intensity), a zoom and automatic functions (dark edges, vintage effects, sepia …) makes the incredible belong to the best camera smartphones.

On the Internet, the browser is responsive and good readability is guaranteed when holding the phone horizontally. Videos in Flash (eg Youtube) are managed, as well as banner ads (unfortunately).

Other phone features

Droid Incredible has a media player that can handle audio and video formats. Aac,. Amr. Ogg,. M4a,. Mid,. Mp3, wav.. Wma, .3 gp, .3 g2,. Mp4,. wmv (Windows Media Video 9). avi (ASP MP4 and MP3). Xvid (MP4 and MP3 ASP). The phone has a GPS chip, and can be used as a tool for location-based or calculation of routes through the Android navigation application. Geolocation tools are used to find bars and restaurants, the closest shopping centers, points of interest (monuments, parks …), shops, gas stations, parking places, hotels or the nearest hospitals.

There is also a function camcorder, tape recorder and FM radio.

Our opinion

Droid Incredible is probably one of the best Android Phone at the time. Powerful, responsive, it is large but thin and relatively light considering its size (135 grams). Its main default is probably related to the autonomy of the battery (1 day and a half day in standard use), but this problem concerns all smartphones. Readability is good on the Internet and video, and AFN offers nice enough snaps with its autofocus.

We especially appreciate the HTC Sense interface which offers shortcuts to phone features and applications that interest you most, and customization to the extreme of the interface. In our opinion, it is more pleasant to use daily that the Nexus S, even if it’s using Android 2.3.3.

Droid X Review

Welcome to our Droid X Review. Before going further, please note that all US residents can have a shot at a FREE Motorola Droid X for a limited time by clicking here. Nothing to lose! Now let’s get started. Faced with the launch of the iPhone 4 sold in five countries, Motorola responded in the summer 2010 with its new Android smartphone, the Droid X. This device relies on its large screen and a rental movie service.

Motorola wishes to recall that it remains a serious competitor to Apple, especially on the US market where the adoption of the Android platform brought the company’s sales figures back on track. Let’s not forget that The Motorola Droid took a better start than the first iPhone in terms of sales, with 1.05 million units sold in the United States in less than three months.

The Chicago firm capitalized on this success, thus coming up with a new terminal on Android, the Droid X. This phone is distinguished by its huge 4.3-inch screen, which is exactly the same as the one found on the EVO 4G on Sprint and the HD2 on T-Mobile. The device itself is clearly large(5″ long, 2.58″ wide), but still thin enough (0.36″).

Motorola Droid X

The Droid X is mainly focusing on its multimedia performance. It is offering a 8-megapixel photo sensor associated with a dual LED flash, and can shoot movies in High Definition (720p). Images can be edited and retouched by a dedicated software, and be broadcasted on a TV via the HDMI connector on the phone or DLNA protocol. MicroUSB is available for syncing and charging.

Droid X Camera

The application “V Cast Video” proposed by Verizon allows the users to make the most out of the size of the screen as well as its resolution by giving them a very large range of movies and series to rent. In addition to the applications available on the Android Market (65,000 applications), Motorola has also preinstalled communication programs and entertainment such as video game Need for Speed Shift, Skype Mobile, or even NFL Mobile.

Technically, this “Google Phone” is powered by a 1 GHz processor, offers 8 GB of internal memory expandable up to 40GB with the microSD slot (a 16 GB comes with the device), and also has a GPS receiver. When Droid X first came out, it was delivered with the Android platform 2.1 (Flash), but an update during the summer 2010 brought the latest software, Android 2.2 (or Froyo). With 512MB of RAM, you can afford to switch between data-intensive applications without the phone slowing down.

Motorola Droid X Movie

As far as battery life goes, Motorola Droid X is decent but not the best out there. You can expect the 1500mAh battery to last for a day on heavy use and 2 days on light use.
